July Empties

It's that time again, time to delve deep into the realms of my trash. Hidden amidst all the toner-soaked cotton pads, in my bathroom bin there sat this lovely bunch, squeezed and scraped of their very last ounces of product. This time there's a bit more of a mix between beauty and skincare products, which is a rarity as I literally never finish up a makeup item! 

I'm going to start off with a few skincare bits. The first is a product I have never mentioned on my blog before...Oh I can't even lie. I can't stop raving about Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. It gets a mention in just about every empties post and is my holy grail cleanser. It's a does-it-all wonder; the eucalyptus is awakening in the morning and come evening it dissolves every last scrap of makeup. It's my top pick for my travel beauty bag and I can't imagine being without it. An order of a full-size has to happen soon.

The next product is the Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray. I love using these in the summer to freshen up and cool down. The spritz didn't work as well as others I've tried so I won't repurchase this one.

Not strictly an empty, more like a "I've had this for 10 years, surely I should throw this now". When I say 10 years, I'm not even lying. I never got into Vaseline on the lips like my friends did, and it sat untouched. I used it as a pre-cleansing balm movement emollient to loosen my eye makeup, before removing it with (horror) a face wipe. I guess you could say I predicted the cleansing balm trend?

I've spoken about the ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray before on the blog. It has a great deal of hype surrounding it, and indeed the hype failed me once again. I like the deep woody twist on the lavender scent; put this in a bath oil and I'd be all ears, but this pillow spray just wasn't strong enough scent-wise. I wouldn't repurchase this as it is way too pricey, and I much prefer the Ragdale Hall offering which comes in at about 1/3 of the price.

I've mentioned the CoLab Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoos in my empties before, and today it's the turn of my favourite scent out of the lot. London is a beautiful rose scent, and I love that it doesn't compete with my perfumes. I've repurchased the larger size and I'm almost running out of that one too.

One of the most talked about products of last year's Lush winter release was Northern Lights. This purple bath bomb turned the water a gorgeous orchid shade, as well as the explosion of colours inside. The scent was a beautiful white floral, and I really hope it'll be back this year.

Moving more onto beauty now and here's a product that I got free with a magazine. The Lip Gloss in Gogi Berry was my first Neal's Yard product. I enjoyed using this soft, balmy gloss, and the colour was a beautiful subtle MLBB shade on me. However the packaging broke pretty quickly. As much as I liked it, I think £9 is pretty steep for a balm/gloss.

I think the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid was pretty much one of the first foundations of it's kind that I bought. I seemed to have the dreaded Dream Matte Mousse phase (which lasted way longer than I dare to admit), then I got really into the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Primer, which I wore sans-foundation. Clearly the times when makeup didn't rule my world are over, and there have been many different options since. I was never bowled over by this foundation, but it seemed to do the job well; nothing too shiny, and looked relatively natural on the skin despite it being quite a thick formula. Unfortunately Sand became too dark for my skintone, so if I do repurchase this, it'll be in a much lighter shade.

I've got a whole host of mascara empties. Although I've tightened the reins now, I had way too many mascaras on the go, and they all seemed to dry out at once. The Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara was a repurchase, and one that I enjoyed using. Whilst it's not the most incredible, it does a great job of everything you need; length, volume, staying power. For this reason, it makes an awesome everyday mascara, and I would most likely repurchase when I'm looking for a mascara I can rely on.

I got a mini Benefit They're Real Mascara free with a full size They're Real, and have actually already repurchased it. They're Real was the first mascara that made me go wow, and since then, only one other mascara has had the same effect. Whilst I'm not having a they're real moment right now, I'm sure I'll come back to it as I always do, for it's incomparable intensity, length and volume.

All I can say about the Bourjois 1 Seconde Mascara is that it has one hell of a brush. It is huge, with plastic bobbles as the bristles. Although it gave a good amount of volume, I didn't find it the easiest mascara to use, so I wouldn't repurchase.

My final empty is a rare one, and it is the Miss Sporty Lasting Colour Nail Polish in 204. This is quite possibly my favourite nail polish of all time as it is such an easy to wear neutral that is really flattering. It's cheap as chips so I've already bought a new one, although the shade does seem slightly different this time around.
