For the last month, I've had the pleasure of having the beautiful Lauren advertising on my sidebar. Lauren is the writer of Sassy In The City, a fun mix of fashion, beauty and all things glamorous with stunning photography and an engaging writing style. Lauren has a background in print media, and that definitely comes across in her blog. As someone who regrets not going down the journalism route, I have found Lauren's career insight so interesting, especially her How To Start A Career In Media in London video, it's well worth a watch!
Some of my favourite posts on Lauren's blog include her Estée Edit post - I'm lusting over all of it RN - she even managed to blag herself an invite to the launch. I also loved her Taming The Wild post. Lauren has the most gorgeous swishy hair, so if I can get mine even a fraction like hers, that'd be okay with me! One of the first posts I remember reading on Lauren's blog was all about the time she styled a window in Knightsbridge store, The Collective. I remember thinking how glamorous and cool this was, what an amazing opportunity! I gave Lauren 10 quick fire questions, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy getting to know her even more...
WHEN & WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG?
Sassy In The City is almost one year old. I've spent eight years working in luxury magazines from Cosmo to Sunday Times Style and more recently GQ, so my passion has always been content and advertising. I identified what I liked and disliked early on and gradually began to write in my spare time. The blog is a good platform for exploring luxury and working on my writing style.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR BLOG INSPO FROM?
The hustle of London inspires me and my day job allows me to learn so much about new grooming and beauty launches months in advance. Staff style inside Vogue House is eclectic too so I'm never short of ideas. I have scraps of paper and phone notes all over the place.
MOST POPULAR POST TO DATE?
My content is seasonal so it's always kept fresh and up to date meaning most pieces are equally as popular. Naturally as my blog grows, the previous pieces become more popular.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACHIEVE THROUGH YOUR BLOG? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BLOG A YEAR FROM NOW?
I love making new contacts and learning more about fashion and beauty. I live for today and tomorrow so I've no idea what will happen in a year!
ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC BLOGGERS THAT INSPIRE YOU?
Lydia Elise Millen is by far my favourite blogger. I've followed her the longest and in the flesh she is like an ornament - put together and refined. Another blog I adore is We Are Twinset. Philippa is my sister-in-law's sister-in-law and each time I see her she is styled and full of energy. I don't know how she juggles everything!

WHERE DOES THE BLOGGING MAGIC HAPPEN?
On the tube I write on my phone, I have a notepad next to my bed where I can wake up and write notes but my trusty laptop is where everything gets uploaded. They say blogging is a lifestyle and there isn't a moment where I'm not thinking about it, (how sad am I?!).
DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG IN 3 WORDS...
Personal, real and optimistic. Can I add very girl-in-the-city? Haha.
WHAT'S YOUR DESERT ISLAND BEAUTY PRODUCT?
Now I'm skin conscious it would have to be sun screen! Shiseido factor 50 definitely prevents wrinkles and sun damage. Or if we're being playful, I would say Glo Minerals eyebrow pencil - mine are non existent.
DESCRIBE YOUR GO-TO STYLE...
It used to be black on black. Then I remember that Anna Wintour quote about Vogue US never featuring an all black outfit (don't know how true that is) so I try to add colour now. Weekend is always Adidas Superstars and jeans/top or work is usually culottes and heels with a casual top.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN?
Never wear things just because they're in fashion. Because of my chest, I steer away from silk PJ tops and because of my height I still feel a bit awks in platforms. A personal piece of advice is never dress for a man! Daniel may hate my flowing boho long sleeved shapeless maxi but that's tough haha.
I'm so grateful of Lauren for supporting my blog, so I hope you'll head on over to her site if you like what you've read already! I am currently taking bookings for August advertising slots, so if you would like to feature in a similar post check out my advertising page. I have 2 super affordable packages for bloggers from just £2.50, and can put together bespoke packages for brands and small businesses.
