Winter Morning Skincare Routine

18 February 2015

For my morning routine, my main focus is refreshing my skin from a night on the pillow, and providing an oil-free base for my makeup. I feel like it's quite a simple routine, and very drugstore oriented.

The Clean & Clear Morning Energy Skin Energising Daily Facial Scrub combines two things I love, the refreshing feel of a gel and a bit of gentle exfoliation. This one feels really moisturising and leaves my skin baby soft. I love it's gorgeous orange fragrance, perfect to wake me up for the day. I originally wrote this post before I bought the Soap & Glory Facial Brush, however after using it for little more than two days, I felt it just had to feature in this post! Nothing makes my skin feel more clean and refreshed in the morning! I put a blob of gel cleanser on the rubber bristles side and massage it into the skin. I wet the brush and then use a combination of the rubber and bristled brushes to further massage the cleanser off, and then take the excess cleanser off with a fave cloth.

I follow this up with a toner, and lately I've been trialing the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Face Pads. These are so easy as they are pre-soaked in the toner, and they do a great job of brightening up the skin. They contain Glycolic acid, which is a chemical exfoliant to get rid of any dead skin cells. I sweep this all over my face and neck and I'm ready to moisturise. My moisturiser of choice right now is the Sanctuary Deep Cleanse Facial Matte Perfecting Hydra Lotion. This promotes radiance thanks to it's fruit-laden formula, while keeping things nice and matte. This is my kinda moisturiser as it makes my skin look glowy without a hint of shimmer or oil. The last product I use in the morning is the Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-on. This really wakes up my tired eyes, I love the cold metal applicator!

So that's my morning cleansing routine. As you can see it's a pretty simple cleanse, tone, moisturise kinda thing, but I tend to do a bit more in the evenings. I'll be posting my evening cleansing routine pretty soon, so keep a look out for that.

  1. I use Lush Ocean Salt exfoliator, Lush Ultrabland cleanser, Lush Tea Tree Toner water and Lush Skin Drink moisturiser. I need an eye product and I'm thinking of trying the Benefit Puff Off stuff. I'm going to sign up for an Elle subscription to get it as part of the free gift. I need a better night routine so I'm looking forward to your post.

  2. I'm been hearing great things about simple skincare, and as someone who has never used eye cream (when I really should be using it) I'm drawn to this one. I have the worst dark circles in the world!

  4. You sound like a serious lush fan! I've actually not tried any of their skincare! I don't think I'll be trying Puff Off as I've heard mixed reviews. I like my simple one purely for the cool feeling.

  6. I've just bought a simple moisturiser too :) although I'm a bit gutted it contains mineral oils.
Honestly I only really use this eye gel as the cooling feeling is divine on tired eyes, but as a serious skincare product I don't think it does anything for dark citcles, and I have a seperate eye product for night time for that.

  7. My skin never agrees with Simple skincare, but I adore Nip+Fab as a skincare brand x

  8. I've never had any real problems with Simple but I know their ingredients aren't as 'simple' as they make out as they use mineral oil in some products. There's a Nip+Fab eye cream I like too :)

  9. Oh really? I like their haircare, have you tried the BIG shampoo? It's awesome!
Aww, I guess you've probably not missed out anything amazing judging by reviews. I'm definitely sticking with this one that's for sure!
