Facetheory: The Bespoke Skincare Routine

Unless you've been living under a rock for most of 2015, you will know that there is a hot new skincare brand with an awesome USP taking the UK by storm. Facetheory strives to deliver individually tailored skincare routines, with unique formulas, light on the nasties. I actually featured them on my blog way back in January under the guise ForYou Skincare. A swift name change gave them the wow factor, but it's what's in those bottles that firmly puts them on the map.

Facetheory's individual skincare regime comes courtesy of their questionnaire. Taking no more than a minute, it'll analyse your skin type and present to you your perfect products. I have oily skin, and after doing the quiz, I was recommended the E1 Exfoliating Cleanser, the T2 Sensitive Toning Mist and the M3 Supergel Moisturiser, all of which I will be reviewing in this post. Facetheory offers the products in either an unscented or scented option, and being the scent-loving gal I am, it's not hard to figure out which one I went for.

E1 Exfoliating Cleanser* (£10.50)

This is a creamy cleanser with a twist. It's not often you see a chemical exfoliant this early on in the routine, let alone one with the addition of physical scrubbies (willow bark). But before you run a mile, it is not as scary as it sounds. The cleanser is very gentle and soothing, and makes my skin feel clean and soft. I don't often use an exfoliating cleanser, but this one is lovely, and the gentleness of the beads make it perfect for ridding of those facial fake tan pesky patches. This is one I'm keen on keeping track of in the long term, due to the brightening glycolic acid-laden formula.

T2 Sensitive Toning Mist* (£7.50)

At the point of trying this, I was new to the toner-in-a-spray idea. This didn't sway me as the spot-zapping, sebum-fighting ingredients unfortunately don't smell great in my hair, which is what kept happening as the spritz is quite intense. A squirt or two on a cotton pad however, and you have a lovely light toner that has definitely grown on me, scent included.

M3 Supergel Moisturiser* (£12.50)

This is a product that again proves that first impressions ain't e'erythang. Marketed as a light gel moisturiser, I was expecting a formula akin to the La Roche Posay Effeclar Duo +, which has become the gold standard for my oily skin. Whilst "Supergel" is slightly off the mark, where this moisturiser really shines is as a night cream. It is creamy and rich, making it super soothing and hydrating without the heaviness. It also smells the nicest of the three products, as the mandarin essential oil really comes through. Rumour on the street is that Facetheory are working in a more suitable gel moisturiser, so keep an eye out for that if that's more up your avenue.

Overall I am pretty impressed with the Facetheory offerings. Whilst the M3 Supergel Moisturiser has made it into my SOS kit, the cleanser and toner aren't what I would have chosen from the selection of products. Although I have oily skin, I don't always use cleansers and toners with that in mind. My HG cleanser is Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, so I'd be keen to see how the Facetheory cream cleanser compares. Similarly I would have preferred the other toner, as I don't really have sensitive skin, and whilst I do get blemishes, they aren't a huge skin concern. I figure regardless of what products I use, hormones are going to do their thing.
