Although Tanya Burr's videos are often tailored to her younger target audience, I have to admit that I do love watching her, especially her vlogs about London life. When Tanya first released her beauty range last year, I was keen to try the products out and picked up one of her lipgloss shades, Picnic in the Park. That was that, until the news of a brand update came to light. Tanya has completely revamped the packaging of the existing products, opting for a sleeker feel for her lipglosses, nail polishes and lashes, as well as adding some new products in the mix. The packaging, of the lipglosses and nail polishes especially, has more of a high end feel, and makes the brand look much more cohesive. Some of the most popular shades of the existing glosses and polishes have stayed, alongside the addition of some brand new products, which is where the excitement really starts.
A brow palette and three eyeshadow quads in varying shades have been added to the collection. I picked up the warmest eyeshadow quad out of the three , the Hollywood Eye Palette (£6, Superdrug) as it was the product that had me the most intrigued. Housed in pretty pink packaing, this palette contains four shades, Nude Delight, Gold Coin, Enchantment and Bookworm, in mix of finishes: matte, shimmer, satin and a pop of glitter. You can see the influences of some of Tanya's personal favourites, MAC and Charlotte Tilbury in this palette, and it is great that she has brought this to the drugstore for such an affordable price. As well as the Hollywood Eyes Palette, I picked up the Duvet Day Nail Polish (£4.99, Superdrug), one of the newer shades. Duvet Day is a lovely light grey with a blueish tint, and I'm sure this has the potential to be the standout shade of the selection. Despite my stellar stash, I was yet to own a grey polish, so all it took was some gentle persuasion and I was happy to add Duvet Day to the roster. The square packaging of these nail polishes not only looks lovely, but is really functional too. It makes the lid really easy to hold and somehow keeps you hand steady when applying (great for those that suck at painting the 'wrong' hand). Duvet Day did take three coats to look opaque, but I really liked the colour and the polish dried quickly with a glossy feel.
Moving on from my good first impresisons of the eyeshadow palettes and nail polishes, overall I think this update is a positive move for Tanya Burr Cosmetics. In one of her vlogs, Tanya said that she wanted to make it more of a brand, rather than just a product here and there, and the new style of packaging definitely achieves this. This is a good core collection which steers away from focusing too much on Tanya's young audience. There are some products lust-worthy enough that they could feature in any beauty enthusiast's makeup kit, young or old, and I'm sure this collection will make an impact in the blogosphere.
