bareMinerals The Main Event 4.0 Quad

14 August 2015

The Main Event Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 Palette was part of the A/W 2014 Glamour Now collection, and is still available on Amazon . These palettes usually retail for £29 but I snapped it up for just £8! Despite having tried quite a few bareMinerals products, eyeshadows were never one of them, so this is my first experience working with them. I've always thought these bareMinerals quads looked lovely, so I was very excited to try it.

Within The Main Event palette, there are four shades (obviously). The first is Celebrate, an off-white with a satin finish. This is perfect for highlighting the brow bone and inner corners, as well as priming the lids. It isn't too OTT so works very well for daytime to subtly open up the eyes. I also like to use this almost matte shade to blend out the crease, giving a pro finish.

In the top right hand corner, we have Ball Gown, a pinky shade. Is it just me or does the shade name remind you of Cinderella? Ball Gown definitely has it's similarities with MAC All That Glitters, but is more brown-toned than peachy. This makes the most beautiful lid shade and it is buttery soft and highly pigmented. It leaves the most amazing sheeny finish on the lids and is easily my favourite shade.

Moving on to the bottom left and Cheers is a taupey shade. It leans more towards the silvery-grey end of the taupe spectrum, but naturally has its similarities to MAC Satin Taupe. Again it is really buttery and blends out nicely. I'll either wear this all over the lid or as a subtle crease shade.

When everything needs intensifying, that's when I turn to Stiletto. This is a brownish plum shade with golden shimmer but the shimmer doesn't translate too much on to the lid. The shadow is pigmented, but it's slightly powdery texture means that it blends out easily, which is perfect as this gets used to add some depth to the crease and underneath the eyes.

Personally I've been enjoying quad eyeshadows more than full palettes, as they usually contain enough shades for both night and day looks, and they are super handy for travelling. The Main Event is such a lovely combination of shades, and I've literally worn it every day. After seeing the quality of these shadows, I'd definitely consider trying another one of these quads from bareMinerals.
