Flowers aren't always the first things that come to mind in the autumn, but Debenhams Flowers have come up with a range tailored specifically to the season. I picked out the Autumn Sun bouquet* (£35.99), which has lovely autumnal tones of yellow, purple and orange.
The Autumn Sun bouquet is an eye-catching bunch, containing yellow Sunflowers, burnt orange Roses and bright purple Statice. Also in the mix are green Chrysanthemum, Hard Ruscus and Solidago. Now I'm going to have to admit that I didn't know the names of any of these besides roses and sunflowers, but having said that, they do make a pretty combination. I particularly enjoyed the mixture of textures in this bouquet, and enjoyed photographing them even more.
The bouquet arrived in particularly sturdy packaging, with the flowers wrapped with a moisture soaked base to protect and nourish the stems. You also get a sachet of plant food. Honestly, I was a bit stumped about how to even care for flowers, but even with my amateur efforts, they still lasted well over a week. At first I wasn't convinced that they would last, as the roses in particular were a tiny bit wilted when they arrived and were the first to go. I was particularly impressed with the durability of the sunflowers, the main attraction.
If you find your flowers looking prematurely droopy, Debenhams Flowers do have a Flower Freshness Guarantee, which gives you your money back if your bouquet doesn't last at least 7 days. You can order up until 9pm, and still get next day delivery, which is perfect
The lovely people at Debenhams Flowers have given me the discount code DFBLOG25 to get 25% off any bunch of flowers (excluding the Flowers by Post range). The best thing about it is that it has no expiry date, lending itself to all the occasions.
