Aaaand we're back for another empties post! I've been stockpiling empties for a hella long time, so I have quite a few of these posts up my sleeve. These are some of my favourite posts to read but I feel like there's only so far you can go to make empties look Pinterest-worthy. It's trash, it isn't going to look perfect, okay?
The first product I finished up is the Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover (£4.99). Now 1 second this definitely is not, but it does a fab job of removing nail polish without the faff of cotton pads. If you are a fan of glitter however, it does tend to tear the sponge, as you have to twist your finger against it to remove the polish. I didn't really like the strong berry & vanilla scent and the fact that it left a residue on my fingers, so I won't be repurchasing.
Last year I seriously hauled in the Lush Boxing Day sale. To this day I'm still working on my stash (which hasn't shrank one bit thanks to the Summer Sneak Peak Event). One of the more festive numbers was the Yog Nog Soap (£3.50 for 100g). You know you've been stockpiling the products for a long time when the Christmas limited editions are back on the shelves! You'll be pleased to know that Yog Nog is indeed back for another year, as well as in bath bomb form. I'll be picking up one of those for sure! The Yog Nog scent is based around the yuletide eggnog, with clove, ylang ylang and nutmeg. It smelt like gingerbread goodness and was really moisturising for a soap, thanks to the soy yoghurt and cocoa butter base. I'd definitely repurchase.
Another Lush product that I picked up in that same haul was the Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar (£5.95). This toffee scented solid shampoo really sorted my scalp out when I was having a bit of a hair 'mare as it cleanses really well without stripping away too much of my natural oils. This bar has been such a hit with my whole family and we're almost ready to repurchase our third bar.
I got the Number 4 Lumiere d'Hiver Reconstructing Mask (£36) in a Birchbox and I loved it. This is a luxurious, highly concentrated, deep conditioning treatment, that I managed to stretch out to a good few uses. It had a beautiful scent and left my hair feeling nourished and healthy. It is possibly one of the most expensive hair products I've ever used, and for that reason I won't repurchase. But y'know, if I get rich, I might indulge...
It wouldn't be an empties if I didn't feature these next two products. The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish (£14 for 100ml) needs no introduction, and I've used it pretty consistently for the last year and a half. There is something about the creamy formula and eucalyptus scent that draws me back every time my skin is feeling a bit lacklustre. The other regular face around these parts is the Vaseline Compressed Active Fresh Antiperspirant (£1.90). This is hands down one of the best deodorants as it is really effective and smells like a combo of lavender and rose. The best part is that it's nearly always on offer for £1.
I picked up a few sachets of bath salts from German brand Dresdner Essenz from my local pharmacy. The Muscle Therapy variation turned my bath water a fab bright orange and contains a soothing and aromatic blend of rosemary and juniper berry. I've repurchased this scent and also picked up a few more varieties. They make a huge range of incredible sounding scents, so definitely a brand to check out if you are ever in Germany.
Lo and behold, I actually have makeup empties! Now this makes for an exciting day. The first is a dual-ended brow product from Maybelline. The Brow Satin (£5.99) in Medium Brown has a waxy pencil on one end (perfection) and a sponge/powder on the other (ditch it). This is the only thing I have used to fill in my brows for the last year, and it has seriously transformed my brow game. It is so easy to use and I really rate the natural shade. I have already repurchased.
I wasn't really that into the Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray (£9 for 30ml) when I first got it, and it sat unused for a while, however I recently got really into setting sprays, and at one point this completely replaced powder. I won't repurchase this although I did like it as it is expensive and I am trying out the affordable Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray (£5).
The Natural Collection Cream Blusher (£1.99) in Rosy Pink is a serious old school product, and one that I've been holding on to for a very long time. This was my very first blush back in the Dream Matte Mousse days (need I say any more?). This cream blush was a really subtle shade that didn't do a great deal, but I guess less is more. I also liked using it on my lips, trying to build up a matte colour. Maybe I predicted the Kylie Jenner matte lip comeback all those years ago? I wouldn't repurchase this as there are far better cream formulas on the market, but for a 16 year old looking for an affordable and subtle introduction to the blush game, this is perfect.
