Teami Blends is a brand that promotes health and wellness with the tag line "It's not just tea, it's a lifestyle". After my horrific experience with Slendertox Tea last year, I vowed never again to drink a detox tea, so was pleased to see some varieties that naturally gives benefits like energy and relaxation using natural ingredients.
I decided to go with the Teami Energy* (£19.99), which is promoted as a natural alternative to tea and coffee for a morning boost. Some of the benefits include a boost in immune system and mental alterness, aiding digestion and suppressing cravings and enhancing concentration without the addictive nature of normal tea or coffee. The tea contains a blend of Oolong, Yerba Mate, Ginseng, Lemongrass, Peppermint Leaf, goji berry and Rhodiola rosea.
Yerba Mate has a smoky green tea flavour and is a caffeine free herb. Oolong is a traditional Chinese tea. These make up the majority of the Teami Energy blend and expand dramatically when in water, they remind me of a flowering tea! Oolong is a natural source of caffeine. Rhodiola rosea is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to promote physical/cognitive vitality. It appears to be proven for reducing fatigue and exhaustion. Ginseng and lemongrass are known to give energy, and peppermint leaf is good for digestion. The blend is rich in antioxidants, and the blend provides a source of Vitamins A, B complex, C, D and E, as well as Potassium and Magnesium.
I decided to swap my morning cup of earl grey for Teami Energy. Normal tea makes me feel quite sluggish and coffee is even worse (which is why I don't drink coffee on a daily basis). I found that swapping to something more natural was a really positive way to start the day and it encourages me to make healthy choices for the day ahead. I sometimes get a bit lacking in energy towards the end of the afternoon, so it's a great one for a natural pick me up.
The taste of Teami Energy is refreshing and herbal, similar to a green tea flavour. Oolong and peppermint come through the most. The instructions say to brew the tea for between 3-5 minutes. A strainer isn't essential as you can keep the leaves in, but I find the longer you leave them in, the more bitter the tea is. I do find it a bit of a faff being loose leaf, but Teami do sell some of their teas in teabags (Alive, Colon). Teami also sell cups with an inbuilt strainer lid in tons of cool colours for taking your tea on the go as well as simple strainers that you can put straight into your mug. I'm definitely kicking myself for not getting one of these sooner!
No matter what you usually start your day with, why not try a Teami blend for a natural boost. Don't forget, the lovely people at Teami are offering 10% any product using the code SCENT10. I'm really happy I've made the swap and will continue getting my morning caffeine fix from Teami Energy. I also really want to try the Relax tea too as I've been finding it so difficult to get to sleep early!
