Maybelline Autumn 2016 New Launches

I'm currently sat here writing this during a heatwave, but I want to say so long to summer and concentrate on the season ahead. I love autumn, as it's not only my birthday season, but the time when the leaves fall off the trees, you can cosy up in soft knits and of course there's a whole lotta love for all things pumpkin spice. The most important thing for a beauty blogger in autumn is the berry lip, and oh my, Maybelline have that covered.

As part of the #MaybellineSquad, I have been given the opportunity to preview latest releases, and within their autumn range there is everything from nail polish to palettes and of course, lips. I've had a little bit of time to play with these, and these are my first impressions on the collection. Grab yourself a cuppa and perhaps a snack, it's going to be a longun'...

LIPS

There are three different products in the autumn line-up, to cover everything from easy lip options, gloss and full matte lips. There are two new Baby Lips* (£2.99) shades for autumn/winter in the Holiday Spice collection. The first is Vanilla Cupcake, my personal favourite. This one of course smells gorgeous, with a sweet vanillary scent and a subtle baby pink shade. It is fab for every day, and I'm sure I'll get a lot of wear out of it. The second is getting seriously autumnal with the shade Chai Tea Latte. This has a spicy cinnamon scent and has a cherry red tint that is perfect if you want an easy red lip.

The Color Drama Intense Lip Paints* (£4.99) are something that I was eagerly anticipating from their US release (nothing is a surprise any more as in the UK we end up getting products 6 months after everyone else!). I have 4 shades, a blue-toned light pink called Never Bare, Fight Me Fuchsia, bright vivid pink, a true red called Red-dy Or Not, and most excitingly, Vamped Up, a purple which is perfect for autumn/winter. There is one more shade which I don't have but will definitely be picking up and it is Stripped Down, which looks like a stunning purpley nude.

The lip paints are an intensely coloured gloss, with a thick formula that applies smoothly and is non-sticky. You can apply a small amount to the lips to create a light stain or really build these up to a bright, high-gloss finish. I don't really enjoy dark or bright shades in glossy formulas, so I just don't think I'd reach for the red, purple or the pink, but I love Never Bare, for a gorgeous everyday shade.

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipsticks

Maybelline launched their popular line of Color Sensational Matte Lipsticks* (£6.99) a while ago, and this season they have expanded their range with 7 new shades (I feel like there are 8 and I've misplaced one...), in their Creamy Mattes and Loaded Bold ranges. These have more of a semi-matte finish, being creamy to apply and comfortable on the lips. There are nudes and pinks, all the way up to the deep luscious berry colours that we all crave in the autumn and winter time. I will be going into more detail about these in a full post coming soon, with swatches of each shade, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

EYES

Maybelline Autumn 2016 New Releases

There are two new shades of the Color Tattoo 24h Cream Gel Eyeshadows* (£4.99), a product that I already own in quite a few shades. New for this season is the gold-toned champagne Fantasy, as well as Breathless, a taupey, khaki, olive shade. The texture of these is more wet than previous colour tattoos, and these are both on the glittery side rather than metallic like On & On Bronze is.

Fantasy is nice, but I don't think I'd reach for it as much as my matte bases because of the glitter, although I think it would be gorgeous topped with a shimmery champagne shade, such as Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy. Breathless on the other hand is beautiful and unlike anything else I own. It has gold glitter among its taupey, khaki base and it looks particularly stunning all over the lid. I'm looking forward to wearing this one a whole lot more throughout autumn and winter.

Maybelline Autumn 2016 New Releases
Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette

The Rock Nudes* (£9.99) is the latest in Maybelline's Nudes palette line. As you can see, mine unfortunately arrived shattered, but I managed to fix it with a bit of alcohol. This palette leans towards being cool-toned, and it has 12 shades: 6 mattes, 4 shimmers and 2 are glitters with a matte base. The formula of the shadows is very powdery, and pigmentation isn't the greatest.

One of the standout shades from the palette is the dusky pink matte, which is really versatile. The olive green with gold shimmer is also lovely, especially when used with a damp brush, and it looks beautiful over the top of the Breathless Color Tattoo. I also love the lilac shimmer, which is lovely as an everyday lid shade. Some of the shades are quite disappointing, particularly the navy blue shimmer, and the two grey/purple mattes are similar so you don't need both in a palette (good job mine smashed eh?). It's still a great palette if you want to play around with a smoky eye on a budget but there are much better palettes out there at a similar price point.

It's also worth mentioning that there is a new mascara to join the ranks, The Falsies Push Up Drama* in Indecent Black (£7.99). I've heard this be compared to Benefit They're Real, which is one of my all-time favourite mascaras so I'm really excited to try this. I'm trying to limit how many mascaras I have open at one time, so I'll be giving this a go once I've used up my Lash Sensational Luscious mascara (which I love!).

FACE

Maybelline Master Strobe Stick Highlighter

Quite possibly one of the most exciting new launches this season is the Master Strobing Stick* (£6.99), a creamy highlight, available in two shades. Light-Iridescent is a gorgeous pinky champagne, suitable for cool, pale skin tones and Medium-Nude Glow is a golden shade for warmer/deeper skin tones. Unfortunately Nude Glow is too dark to highlight my skin, but Light-Iridescent is perfect.

The Master Strobing Sticks glide onto the skin like butter. They are easily to blend with fingers or a beauty blender and almost have a cream-to-powder formula. They leave a really flattering glow to the cheekbones without an ounce of glitter and they can be built up from a subtle lit-from-within look to a full on strobe effect. I'm seriously impressed with these!

NAILS

Finally I come on to nails, something I think Maybelline always does so well. There are two new ranges this season, the first being the SuperStay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour Metallic Silks* (£4.49). The SuperStay polishes are some of my favourites anyway, and these are no exception. There are three bold metal shades, Rose Veil, Silver Satin and Golden Thread. Out of the three, my favourite has to be Rose Veil as it is the most beautiful rose gold shade. I even featured it in my August Favourites! These metals almost have a matte metallic finish and dry in a flash.

The other new range is the Color Show Preppy Woman collection* (£3.99). There are three shades, Runway Rose, which is a dusky warm browny pink, brilliant for autumn. Another great autumnal shade is Dear Magenta, a deep raspberry. Finally in the collection is Top-coat Tweedy, a clear top coat with fine rose gold confetti glitter. Polishes like this are great to take you though to party season.

Maybelline Color Show Preppy Woman

There are so many new products that it's hard to pick favourites. I'm definitely going to be moving the Vanilla Cupcake Baby Lips, the Never Bare Lip Paint, Breathless Color Tattoo, the Light-Iridescent Master Strobing Stick and a couple of the lipsticks into my everyday makeup drawers. I liked all the nail polishes, so I'm sure I will be reaching for them a ton, and I'll give the mascara a go once I've used up some of my other ones. Although some of the products were a bit hit and miss here, Maybelline is still one of my favourite drugstore makeup brands, and I always look forward to seeing what they'll bring out next!

What are you most looking forward to about Autumn?
