I've always loved Maybelline as a brand. They have been one of my go-tos ever since I started wearing makeup. Dream Matte Mousse anyone? That aside, so many of their products have become favourites. I'm a particular fan of their brow products, their gel liner and mascaras. I love how they have a solid repertoire of products that work, and as a brand, they aren't afraid to take risks, all whilst maintaining an affordable price point.
I received the most incredible package from Maybelline after they kindly chose me to be part of their #MaybellineSquad. I have a ton of their new releases here, most of which are available now online and in store, and the rest will be coming very soon. There's everything from their long awaited matte liquid lipsticks, to funky eyeliners and a new way to contour. Grab a cuppa, it's going to be a long one...
LIPS
There are three new Baby Lips* (£2.99) in the limited edition Pop Art collection. We have Grapefruit Zing, which is a shocking bright pink and has a grapefruit scent. Bubblegum Pop is a sheer candy pink with a tutti fruity scent, and finally there is the blueberry muffin scented Blueberry Boom, a juicy magenta shade. Not ashamed to say that I sang the "Boom Boom Boom Boom, I want you in my room" song after seeing the name of this, best song of the 90s! The shade that I am most impressed with is Grapefruit Zing, which offers an easy way to wear a bright lip. The neon pink will be perfect for summer!
A product that has been out in the US for a while is the Baby Lips Moisturising Lip Gloss* (£4.99). There are 3 different finishes: jelly, crystal and cream, with my favourites being the milky cream shades. I'm not the hugest gloss wearer, but on first impressions, these are lovely. They smell and taste like sweets (dolly mixtures perhaps?), and feel really moisturising on the lips. They aren't sticky, but there's a bit of tack so the gloss doesn't wear off after 5 minutes. My favourite shades pictured below are the cream nude and peach (Taupe With Me and Life's A Peach), as well as the crystal Wink Of Pink, a pink gloss with multi-faceted purple shimmer. I never thought glittery lip gloss would be my thing in 2016, but I'm actually secretly obsessed with it. It's so fun!
EYES
There are two new liquid liner launches, the first being the Master Precise Curvy Eyeliner* (£6.99). This is a felt tip marker style, with a really interesting nib. Where a usual marker pen liner would be curved all around, this has two flat sides, so effectively you get a narrow side and a chunky side. At first I wasn't sure on this (bare in mind I am pants at liquid liner), but on the second attempt, I cracked it! The flat edge means you can get really close to the lashes. I find the shape of the packaging makes it really hard to open though.
One of the more experimental products is the Master Ink Matte White Liner*. I'm looking forward to playing around with this for some bold, graphic liner looks. This is a traditional style liquid liner, something that I haven't used in years, but I found it so easy to apply. I think I'll be picking up one of these in black!
One of the things that Maybelline do really well is their mascaras. The Lash Sensational Luscious* (£7.99) is new addition to their popular Lash Sensational range. It has a slightly different wand, plastic bristles with cut out reservoirs. I much prefer this wand to the original Lash Sensational as it is slightly smaller and you can really work it into the lashes. This is a really intense black mascara, and has quite a wet formula. It gives a defined fat lash effect, without weighing the lashes down thanks to the oil blend. I'm looking forward to seeing how this performs when it has dried out slightly.
FACE
The other new face launch is the NY Bricks Bronzer* (£7.99) in the shade Blondes. This cute little palette was one of the products that I was the most excited to try when I saw it. It contains a matte bronzing half, and a shimmer brick half, with tones of champagne, pink and gold. The bronzer leans more towards the golden side, so whilst it won't be great for contouring, it is perfect for warming up the face in the summer months. The shimmer side is great swirled over the cheeks for a luminous glow, or you could even use the shades separately as eyeshadows, making the palette a great one for taking on a beach holiday.
NAILS
Lastly we come on to nails. I'm a big fan of Maybelline Color Show nail polishes as they are super affordable and have such a great variety of shades and finishes. New in their nail lineup are the Color Show Jelly Tints*, a collection of 4 translucent neons shades in orange (Edgy Tangy), pink (Fuchsianista), purple (Berry Merry) and coral (Grapefruity). These are a really fun take on summer nails, they kind of remind me of something from the 90's. Jelly sandals anyone? My favourites so far are Fuchsianista and Grapefruity. I'll pop up my full thoughts in my Spring Manicure Menu post at the end of this month.
This is without a doubt the most exciting PR sample to have ever landed on my desk, and I'm so grateful to be a part of the #MaybellineSquad. I hope you've enjoyed my round up of their new products. There are some really interesting launches, with my favourites being the Grapefruit Zing Baby Lips, the cream Baby Lips Glosses and the NY Bricks Bronzer. Some of the products aren't yet available online, but I've linked where I can. You might be able to find them popping up in store a bit early though. Look out for my full swatch post on the Vivid Matte Liquids which will be coming very soon!
