The Spring Lip Line-Up | Gifted

8 March 2017

I really enjoyed writing my first Lipstick edit post, and it seemed to go down really well, so I'm back with round 2! This time it's not just nudes, and I've been playing around with a few new products that I'm OBSESSED with! I've tried to only pop down ones that I didn't feature in my first lipstick edit, but there is one duplicate, this time with a different lip liner combo. I wanted these posts to be a realistic view of the products I've been wearing and loving over the last few weeks, so I hope ya don't mind too much. P.S. Sorry about how rank these photos are, I've taken down my softbox lights (bc floor space...) and thought I could get away with not using them. Turns out, I can't...

My number 1 pick for a red lip, this dual-ended liquid lipstick is the most long-lasting out of any I've tried. It has a traditional liquid lipstick on one end, with a doe foot applicator, and then a gloss on the other end which seals in the colour. The sealant adds a little more moisture so it isn't overly drying compared to other liquid lipsticks. I've been so impressed by these little beauties from Rimmel, and I feel like they're so under-the-radar! I definitely want to try out more shades!

My current go-to nude combo is the Essence Lip Liner in In The Nude (full review), topped with Windsor Rose* from The Body Shop (full review). I'd never really layer a liquid lipstick over a lip liner, but these ones from The Body Shop are a bit more sheer in terms of pigmentation. They're very similar to the likes of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, with that soft, moussy texture, but they seem to dry down a bit more so they're more long lasting than their NYX couterparts. On the whole, they're not my favourite liquid lipsticks in the world, but I've been reaching for this one a ton as a nice, easy daytime option.

L>R: KVD Lolita, UD Stark Naked, Rimmel Kiss Me You Fool, TBS Windsor Rose, KVD Double Dare

I tried one of KVD's liquid lipsticks back in the summer, and really enjoyed it, so when the brand launched in Debenhams (rejoice!), I decided to ask for the London Calling Kit for Christmas, which included a liquid lipstick, the Tattoo Liner (which is bloody amazing) and another lipstick (which I'll be talking about below). I ended up loving all of the products, especially this liquid lipstick, as Double Dare is a really nice, easy to wear shade. It's still a nude (kind of), with more of a rosy tone, so it's a good option if you don't want to wear more of a bold red. It applies really easily, and isn't too drying, so that gets a thumbs up in my book!

As promised, here's the other lipstick from the set, and this time it's a traditional bullet lipstick. I hadn't heard all that much about these ones from Kat Von D, so I was surprised to love it as much as I do! I was pretty much obsessed as soon as I put it on for the first time! Lolita is fairly similar to Double Dare in shade, but it has a touch more brown in there. Again, it's a nice option for a darker nude and is really easy to wear, and the formula is just so darn lovely. It has a creamy finish and is super pigmented, which makes application really quick and easy. It isn't drying, thanks to the powerful antioxidant complex infused with vitamins A, C and E and is pretty long-lasting despite not being a matte formula. I'm in love!

Yep, this is the one I featured last time but The Urban Decay Comfort Matte formula has to be one of my favourites. It just does what it says on the tin - being matte and extremely comfortable to wear, and Stark Naked* is a lovely warm-toned nude that goes so well whenever I wear anything camel coloured. This time, I used the new Maybelline Nude Whisper Lip Liner*and it's fast becoming one of my favourites, it literally lives in my handbag now! Again, this one is really creamy, and its lighter nude hue makes it really versatile for use with so many of my lipsticks, I'm obsessed with it!

Which lipsticks have you been loving recently?
