August Beauty Favourites

August Favourites Fudge The Body Shop Estee Lauder Lush

It feels like forever since I wrote my July Favourites! I really had to think hard about what I'd bought over the last month. I've not been wearing that much makeup recently, only really if I'm doing something special, so I've placed more of an emphasis onto skincare this month, rather than beauty, although I did indulge in a palette or three, oops!

Back at the start of August, I went to the Lush Leicester Summer Sneak Peek event (read all about it here), and in the goodie bag was a sample of the Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser* (from £6.75). This is a fresh clay-based cleanser with ground almonds and lavender, which leaves your skin feeling super soft and gently exfoliated. I really need to pick up a full size of this product!

I've been really into the combination of a serum and this next product. Whilst I've been switching up the serums and trying something new, I've stayed pretty faithful to The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream (£12) all month. It has a lovely aquatic scent and a soothing, creamy feel whilst still being really light and balancing to oily skin. Used after a serum in the evenings, it never fails to make my skin feel soft and hydrated. I've also been testing out lots of new masks this month, and the standout had to be the Quick Fix Facials Brightening Peel Mask (review). It has a gel texture which sets and peels off really easily, leaving behind super radiant skin. This has really impressive results for such a budget mask at just £4.99!

Now we come to hair products. I picked up the Fudge Urban Crisp Pear & Sweet Vanilla Texture Spray (£6.99) and it has proven to be a great alternative to the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray, but with a nicer scent. I do find it a bit dusty and makes my hair tangle easily, so it is by no means perfect, but it still does the job for a great price.

For body care I've been using up some of the products I hauled at the Lush event, and one of the standouts has been the Frozen Bath Bomb* (£3.95). I'm a bubbles girl through and through so bath bombs don't always float my boat, but I just couldn't resist the beautiful scent of neroli and grapefruit. Frozen turned my bath water a stunning turquoise and even came complete with silver glitter. At the end of the day, nothing can compare to the feeling of being a mermaid. For moisturisation, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess (mentioned here) never fails to be the scent of the summer, and I managed to snap up a bottle of the long discontinued Luminous Body Lotion. This smells like a day at the beach and gives limbs a healthy, dewy glow.

In the mornings I've been favouring spending the time watching a cheeky bit of Pretty Little Liars and going slap-free with the exception of my trusty Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (£8.99). It wasn't love at first use with this powder, as I felt that at first it didn't keep me as matte as the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot, but after a few uses I was converted. I like that it has a bit of a tint, doesn't cake no matter how much you apply, and I love its peachy mango scent.

On the occasions where I did go full-face, I've been alternating between a few new palettes. One of my firm favourites has to be the bareMinerals The Main Event 4.0 quad (review). The shimmer shades in this palette are wonderfully buttery and this has the perfect balance of shades to ease me into Autumn. I've got two favourites for highlighting purposes, and those are the Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette (£8) and Technic High Lights (£2.85). Three finely milled powder highlighters, which range from shimmery champagne to bronze, and a liquid that gives Benefit High Beam a good run for its money, team up to give that lit from within look I've been coveting this month.

With Autumn on the horizon, I can tell that next month will see the stereotypical berry-toned products start to creep in. And by that I mean MAC Cranberry, Maybelline Pomegranate Colour Tattoo and Rimmel 107. It happens every year, us bloggers are so predictable...

What are your beauty favourites? Are you excited for the Autumn berry tones?
