About a month ago, I added a few new products to my makeup stash from cult US brand, ColourPop. I've mentioned one of them briefly in my Kylie Jenner Candy K Lip Kit post, but I thought today I'd let them take centre stage and share my thoughts on my first ColourPop products. I managed to get one of the Ultra Matte Lips and a Super Shock Shadow, and was so excited to try them seeing as I'd heard so much about them online.
ColourPop are known for having a huge selection of on-trend products and shades, and were one of the first brands to sell the coveted matte liquid lipstick at an affordable price point. The only downside is the fact that you can't order directly to the UK, so you have to go via a shipping service. I actually got these products via a friend so can't comment on the ordering and shipping process, but I am considering placing an order soon.
The first product I got was the Ultra Matte Lips ($6) in the shade Lumiere 2. The Ultra Matte Lips are a liquid lipsticks with a thin formula similar to the Kylie Lip Kits (I discussed the similarities and differences in this post). Having such a thin formula could easily be very messy, but this product has a stopper which means you can wipe off the excess from the wand. There is so much pigment packed in there, and it is so easy to apply to the lips as you only really need one swipe. The Ultra Matte Lips completely dry to a very matte finish, so if you don't like drying formulas, you won't like these.
The shade Lumiere 2 is has been created in collaboration with YouTuber Kathleenlights (who I LOVE!) after the success of the Lumiere Lippy Stix. One of the main reasons why I love this product is the shade. It is so unique, a midway between raspberry and plum. Sometimes purpley shades can look a bit off, but this one is slightly muted so it doesn't look too "OMG you're wearing purple lipstick". I'm obsessed with it!
The other product I picked up was the Super Shock Shadow ($5) in the shade DGAF. It is in a metallic finish, with a soft, creamy formula. When applied with a fluffy brush, it very much reminds me of the "pop" shade in the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette as you only really get the glitter, not the pigment. If you want to use this as a lid shade, you really need to apply it with fingers.
DGAF is described as a "medium-toned rusty brown topped with multi-dimensional gold glitter". This is pretty much spot on. Some describe it as a rose gold, but I don't think that's true at all. The base shadow is a rusty brown with coral/pink undertones. I don't really use this all that much alone as you have to be careful to avoid the "pink-eye" look but I love pairing this with gold eyeshadows as it gives a kind of sunset effect. It's hard to capture the shimmer in the swatch, so you'll have to believe me when I say it's utterly stunning!

Overall I'm impressed with my first ColourPop products. I love the formula of the Ultra Matte Lips and will definitely pick up a few more on my next order. I'm so glad I picked up Lumiere 2 as it is so different to anything else in my collection. I'm not 100% smitten with the eyeshadow as I don't think DGAF has the best formula compared to others I've seen swatched, although I do use it. I will be picking up a few more shades in different finishes to compare.
For the price, the products are fab and there's no way you would get the same quality in the UK for £3/£4. It's such a shame that ColourPop don't yet ship to the UK so in the meantime I'll be relying on mail forwarding services. Let me know if you've used and recommend any of these services!
Which ColourPop products should I add to my next order?
