BioEssence is a Korean brand that has made its way to the UK, and launched in Superdrug earlier this year. Out of the entire range, the product that I was most excited to try was the Gold Water (because gold flecks, duh!), so the 24k Bio Gold Miracle Finisher* wasn't something I really looked into, especially seeing as it was a mattifying product and my skin is more normal-dry, however it really surprised me! Despite being available in Superdrug, this product has a slightly higher price tag, just shy of £30, so I've popped it in the High-end Heroes category (but if you're quick, it's currently on sale for £19.99, go go go!). Everyone has their own definition of "drugstore", and for me that's usually a product under £10, but I'll leave that to you to decide for yourself...
The Miracle Finisher is designed to be used as the final step in your skincare routine and acts like a primer, but it does offer some skincare benefits. It is enriched with 24K Bio-Gold, Bio Mineral Amino Acid and Bio Energy Fluid to add a healthy glow and it also works as a barrier to protect the skin against makeup and pollution, reducing skin irritation and clogged pores. Although the highest listed ingredients are variants of silicone, it still feels lightweight and breathable in comparison to other silicone primers on the market, such as the Benefit Porefessional.
I like to apply the Miracle Finisher on my chin, nose, centre of the forehead and the tops of the cheekbones where I have enlarged pores. For the past 3 years, my Holy Grail has been The Body Shop Instablur Primer, as it beats any other mattifying product for me. However, the Miracle Finisher is the first product that has knocked it off the top spot, and it has taken its place in my everyday makeup bag. Although my skin isn't as oily as it used to be, my base doesn't wear as well in the T-Zone, particularly either sides of the nose, and I never thought I'd find a product that would keep my skin as matte throughout the day.

Not only does the Miracle Finisher provide enough oil control to keep my foundation looking fresh, it also doesn't dry out the skin either. Mattifying primers tend to be pretty drying and can make the skin look quite flaky, but this one manages to smooth over everything without dragging on the skincare you use below it. One of my pet peeves is when a skincare product or primer balls or pills on the skin, but I can apply the Miracle Finisher directly after moisturising without any issues. It has a beautiful finish, being completely unlike anything I've tried before. Like other mattifying primers, it smooth over the skin and blurs over pores and imperfections, however the thing that makes the Miracle Finisher unique is its texture. It is quite liquidy so a little goes a long way - you only really need a single pump. It is here that I really appreciate the packaging, you can easily see exactly how much product is left.
Even though I liked the Bio Essence 24k Bio Gold Miracle Finisher as soon as I tried it, I had no idea how much of a staple it would become in my make-up bag. I genuinely have used it every single time I've done my makeup for the last couple of months, and that is why it has gained a place in my Beauty Hall of Fame. I thought it would be just another mattifying primer but I can't even tell you how much I've enjoyed using it. Initially, I was sceptical about the £30 price tag, especially when it exceeds the price of other skincare and priming products available in Superdrug. In a blind-test, I would certainly put this in the high-end/luxury price bracket and I could easily mistake it for something from Guerlain or YSL, so £30 suddenly doesn't seem so excessive. It is a little gem that is hidden within skincare section but it really is a great primer and I would definitely recommend it whether you have oily normal or dry skin.
Have you tried anything from Bio Essence?

I really want to try this brand, even though I also thought it will be more affordable! My skin isn't oily either, but I like the idea of a smoothing primer!

I've heard such good things about this, personally it's way to expensive for me!

This primer is very luxurious looking! Not sure if it would work on my super-oily skin.
