Now the season's on the change, I've been craving a shift from my summer favourite, uber-fruity Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! and I've been on the hunt for a more autumn-appropriate scent. There are a select few scents that are so highly raved about on so many blogs, so I've looked to these for inspiration.
Stella by Stella McCartney
Stella is composed of rose, mandarin, peony and amber. A classic daytime signature scent, this is a fresher, more Turkish-delighty take on the rose, compared to say, Chloe EDP. It's every beauty bloggers' fave, and after sampling in store, can't wait to properly try it.
Roses de Chloe by Chloe
Continuing on with the rose theme of Stella... I'm pretty keen on the original Chloe EDP, finding it very nostalgic and classic. I love it's heady, powdery scent, but I am keen to try this. I never thought you could amplify the rose beyond Chloe EDP but this take looks much fresher. Okay, not really in line with fall/winter, but I wanted to try this before getting a full size of the original. Roses de Chloe has top notes of bergamot, tarragon and lychee, a heart of rose, magnolia and cedar and base notes of amber and white musk. This perfume strives to emulate walking through a Parisian rose-lined garden.
See by Chloe
See by Chloe is a much fresher, modern scent, compared to the rose hit of their Chloe EDP line. Again adored by many beauty bloggers, this is something completely different to anything currently in my collection. It has top notes of bergamot and apple blossom, a heart of jasmine and ylang-ylang and base notes of vanilla, musk and sandalwood. This is far from being a warm vanilla scent, appearing icy and fresh. To note, Chloe have just released See by Chloe Eau Fraiche, with notes of water hyacinth, and vetiver.
Philosykos by Diptyque
This is another popular scent, the figgy Philosykos. I am yet to try a Diptyque offering. It has top notes of fig leaf and fig, a heart of coconut and green notes and a base of cedar, wood and fig tree. I love the scent of figs, and I'm so excited to try this as I also adore coconut. I really hope this lives up to the hype!
Vetyverio by Diptyque
Another Diptyque offering, this unisex scent is a floral woody musk. It combines top notes of mandarin, grapefruit, lemon and bergamot, with a heart of ylang-ylang, rose, geranium and spices (carrot seed, nutmeg, clove). It has a base of dry cedar, vetiver and musk. I'm intrigued to try this as it's so different to anything else I've tried.
Escentric 01 by Escentric Molecules (review)
This is another woody offering that's had serious hype on the blogosphere. Touted as the scent that will make people stop you in the street to ask what you're wearing, it is composed of a single molecule of ISO-e-super. It will amplify your pheromones and is great for layering. This is another really intriguing concept, and I can't wait to try it.
I have placed an eBay order for:
Stella by Stella McCartney
See by Chloe
Roses de Chloe by Chloe
Philosykos by Diptyque
I will update you with my opinions of each in a few weeks time!
